Quality Manager, R&D Drammen
About the role
As our new Quality Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring that our products meet the highest quality standards throughout the entire product development lifecycle – from early design concepts to products in the hands of our key international customers.
This is a highly visible role where you will connect and collaborate closely with development engineers, manufacturing sites and customers, ensuring that quality is built into every stage of the development process.
You will report to the Head of R&D Drammen and work closely with colleagues across Norway, Switzerland, Taiwan and at our manufacturing sites.
Main responsibilities
Continuously review R&D processes and ways of working, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, quality and performance. Take an active role to align quality work processes with Bern, Taiwan and factories.
Drive the implementation of improvements together with R&D management and team leaders.
Contribute to development, implementation and maintenance of the Business Management System (BMS), ensuring process adherence across R&D sites.
Lead technical problem-solving processes to ensure close follow-up and effective cross-functional collaboration, involving relevant disciplines and competencies.
Provide quality reporting, monitoring and follow-up of product performance towards key OEM customers, acting as quality interface.
Perform analysis of field performance and quality data, identifying trends and root causes to support continuous improvement.
Own customer complaint handling, including coordination of failure analysis and preparation, follow-up and closing of 8D reports.
Represent Quality in key R&D processes, including Projects, NPI (introduction of new products, and request like ECN and ACR (change notifications- and requests).
Own ISO certification activities for R&D Drammen, and coordinate audits (internal and external).
Lead and refine work methods and promote a strong quality culture through close collaboration across disciplines and international sites.
Team management.
Some business travel to different sites is required.
Required professional qualifications and skills
5 + of experience from R&D (electronics, mechanics, SW, HW and other relevant fields) product development or other technically advanced environments.
At least 3 years of hands-on experience from relevant positions with “hands-on” quality management and risk management competence.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electronics or similar. – Comprehensive and highly relevant work experience can partly compensate.
Experience working with customer quality, field quality or manufacturing quality.
Strong knowledge of relevant standards such as ISO, and structured quality methodologies.
Experience with root cause analysis, data-driven problem solving and continuous improvement.
Strong proven analytical skills combined with sound business understanding and the ability to adapt leadership style to different cultures.
Fluent in both written and spoken English, and preferably also fluent in Norwegian (or, at a minimum, able to communicate in Norwegian in informal settings).
